MotoGP Mugello - Race Results

Race results from the 2016 Italian MotoGP at Mugello, round 6 of 18.
Jorge Lorenzo wins the Italian MotoGP after a photo-finish with Marc Marquez, the pair swapping places several times on the final lap before Lorenzo slipstreamed past the Honda rider on the run to the finish line.

Andrea Iannone claimed third for Ducati after fighting back from a bad start, setting a new all-time top speed record in the process. Fellow home hero Valentino Rossi was shadowing Lorenzo for the lead, until a massive engine failure.

Tito Rabat missed the race after fracturing his collarbone on Saturday, while Ducati test rider Michele Pirro was competing as a wild-card...

If only we had such a fight between the spaniards late last year. I'm a tad disappointed that Yamaha didn't foresee they have a problem after Jorge's failure in warm-up and maybe change Rossi's bike, engine, whatever, or they did so? Oh well, now it's hard for Rossi to fight for the championship. But there are still many races, maybe we'll see some more DNFs or incidents from the front contenders.

What a race! Great fight between Marquez and Lorenzo, after we were denied the fight with Rossi. Inch perfect ride from Lorenzo, Really unfortunate engine blow-up for Rossi, and gutsy attempt to snatch a win from Marquez....not to mention great battles for the minor places... Race of the year so far.
