Couples row while driving abroad

More than a third of couples argue when driving abroad, a new poll has shown.

Arguments behind the wheel are second only to rows about money for UK travellers, the survey from car rental company easyCar.com found.

Poor map reading, driving too fast and not understanding foreign road signs were the main cause of the in-car arguments.

Couples driving overseas have been put into four categories.

They are:
- The Planners - they work out their route in advance and thus have the fewest arguments

- The SatNavvies - they follow their satnav and then argue when they get lost

- The Freewheelers - they are the largest driving type who follow instincts rather than maps and consequently argue a lot

- The Road Signers - they rely on the local signs and end up having rows as they cannot always read them properly.

EasyCar.com chief executive Bill Jones said: "A driving holiday is the best way to get off the well-trod tourist path and do some exciting trail-blazing of your own.

"A bit of forward planning can help make sure your road trip is stress-free."

A total of 4,173 adults were surveyed.
