The squad, who have only used two drivers in A1GP so far – intend to evaluate two new drivers, Satrio Hermanto and Zahir Ali, at Snetterton, England on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

The test will act as the squad's ‘rookie driver' test, which all teams are eligible to apply to run in the off season. Rules stipulate that the test takes place on a track not on the A1GP calendar and that the drivers have never raced in the series before.

“To be given the opportunity to test an A1GP car for A1 Team Indonesia is a privilege,” Ali told the official A1GP website.

“I didn't expect to be driving such a powerful car so soon in my career, but I'm really looking forward to it,” added the 18-year-old, who is currently competing in the Asian Formula BMW series. “I've watched the progress of the team since it was launched and it will be exciting to join them and learn during the test at Snetterton. “

Hermanto meanwhile is also looking forward to running in an A1GP car: “I can't wait to be in the cockpit of the A1GP car,” continued the 23-year-old, who competes in the Formula Renault V6 Asia championship. “It will be the most powerful racing car I've ever driven, so that's exciting. With its paddle shift gears and an advanced technology braking system, I'm sure it'll be a completely new experience.”

The team is yet to confirm its drivers for 2007/08 and this test could prove part of the evaluation process. However, no expectations are being placed on either to perform.

“There will be no pressure on the drivers to go out and set quick lap-times,” stated A1 Team Indonesia general manager John Allen. “This is an opportunity for these young drivers to sample the power of the A1GP car and the high levels of professionalism which comes with A1GP.

“This unique chance will help raise awareness of young driver talent in Indonesia and will aid the future prospects of both Satrio Hermanto and Zahir Ali as we consider who the future drivers for the team will be.”
