A1 Team Pakistan's Adam Khan has targeted his country's maiden rostrum finish in Australia this weekend, after registering its first point of the 2007/08 campaign last time out in Taupo.
The nation vs nation series veteran inherited tenth place – and with it the final point – in the New Zealand feature race following the USA's demotion. He is confident that a recent change in engineering personnel could be the key to helping the squad unlock its full potential, as it bids to regain the form that saw it take fifth spot in Shanghai – its best A1GP result to-date – almost two years ago.
“Everyone came in and did a fantastic job in Taupo,” the 22-year-old underlined. “Hopefully we can get some more points in the next race or maybe even a podium – who knows?
“We've got the pace to have a really good race next time; we just have to make qualifying a bit better. Everybody in the team is gelling well and is really genuine and helpful. Everyone did a great job in everything they did that weekend.”
Khan has even more reason to approach Eastern Creek in a positive frame of mind, knowing the circuit well having already competed there during A1GP's inaugural season back in 2005/06 – when he twice took the chequered flag just shy of the top ten.
“It's one of those tracks, even though it was two years ago, that is one of the freshest in my memory,” the former British F3 and World Series by Renault ace explained. “I really enjoyed it. In the first season I did alright there – I was up to fifth place before the pit-stops – so I'm really looking forward to going back.”
