Versatile British racer adds tin-top marathon to resume.

As if driving both an A1 Grand Prix and F3 car at Eastern Creek last week wasn't enough, Team GBR rookie James Winslow will try yet another car this weekend as he joins fellow single-seater experts to contest the Bathurst 12 Hours in a Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

Winslow, Aussie Daniel Schulz and Kiwi Andy Knight - all past or present stars of the Kumho Tyres Australian F3 Championship - will team up with Wilson Brothers Racing to contest the Sonax High Performance All Wheel Drive class in the Mount Panorama classic and, while they may lack experience at the 6.213km circuit - and in tin-top racing - their impressive open-wheel careers should be enough to ensure that they run at the front of a 35-car pack.

British driver Winslow won the 2007 Formula V6 Asia championship, the 2006 Asian Formula 3 Championship and last year finished fourth in the Australian F3 championship despite missing the final round. Last weekend, he finished second in the opening round of the 2008 championship whilst also fulfilling duties as the designated rookie and reserve for Team GBR in the A1GP.

His vast open-wheel experience also extends to a Champ Car World Series test with Conquest Racing late last season, but Winslow admits that little will compare to tackling one of the most famous circuits on the planet.

”It's going to be a fantastic experience – every driver wants to race at Mount Panorama,” he said, “It will be my third different car in the space of two weeks, after driving the F3 and A1GP cars last weekend at Eastern Creek, but I'm looking forward to racing at Bathurst. It looks like a great track and I'm hoping that the experience gained will help me in V8 Supercars in the future.”
