Buoyed by his recent Australian F3 form, James Winslow will hope to use this weekend's final A1 Grand Prix outing with Team GBR to secure the rest of his season.
The Briton had toyed with the idea of moving to Champ Cars for 2008, and had an LMP1 programme lined up for the Le Mans Series on either side of the Atlantic, only to be left disappointed by the last minute collapse of a sponsorship deal. That situation also cost him the original ride he had in the F3 series down under, but Winslow made the most of a late switch to another team for lat weekend's Oran Park round to take his first win of the season and move into top spot in the standings.
Now, taking advantage of gap in the F3 schedule and jumping at the opportunity to rejoin Team GBR after impressive outings at Taupo and Eastern Creek, the reigning Asia V6 champion is hoping that he can raise the finance to see out the season and, possibly, take a third title in as many years.
Running the two rookie sessions at
Brands Hatch this Friday [2 May], Winslow will be making a rare appearance on British soil, but is looking forward to getting abck in the A1GP car after having to sit out the two most recent rounds, in South Africa and China, due to clashing commitments.
"Naturally, I am delighted to have been invited to return to Team GBR – and honoured to be a part of the team's efforts at our home event," Winslow said. "It will be a strange feeling to be driving on British soil again, as this is the first time that I have been on track in the UK for a while, but I am determined to do the best I can to help the team win at home.
