A1 Team France will hope to secure second place in the A1GP standings this weekend as the 2007/08 season draws to a close with the season finale at Brands Hatch.

The French squad currently lies third in the championship standings but goes into the weekend just ten points behind New Zealand and will aim to overhaul ‘Black Beauty' in the standings.

In an effort to secure the position, France will once again call on the services of former F1 racer Franck Montagny at Brands Hatch, with youngster Nicolas Prost taking part in the rookie test sessions.

Alain Prost will be present for the weekend to add his experience to that of team manager Olivier Panis with Panis admitting that the team needed a trouble-free weekend if it is to achieve its goal.

“This season's A1 GP has been very closely fought,” he said. “It's passed in a flash and we can hardly believe that we're racing in the final round this weekend.

“Three weeks ago our hopes of winning the title vanished, but we've set ourselves another challenge and we're out to finish the championship in second place. To achieve this we've only got one solution: step-by-step progress and no mistakes!”

Montagny himself said he was feeling more confident behind the wheel following his outing in China and he admitted that racing on a circuit where he hasn't competed in F1 in the past would be an advantage.

“After having racked up the mileage on the Shanghai circuit in the races I think I know how to get the best out of the A1 single-seater,” he said. “The fact that we're racing at Brands Hatch is an advantage for me, as I'll tackle the circuit without any prior F1 experience. I'm determined to do everything I can to help the team end the season on a high note.”
