Khalil Beschir is to return to the A1 Team Lebanon seat for the final round of the A1GP season this weekend at
Brands Hatch.
Beschir grabbed many of the headlines during the first ever A1 event at Brands Hatch back in 2005 after he rolled into the Paddock Hill gravel trap following contact with the Italian driver Enrico Toccacelo.
Now Beschir will return aiming to end a difficult season for the Lebanese squad on a high with the team currently being one of only two – alongside Indonesia – yet to score a point during the current campaign.
“It's great to be back in Lebanese car and driving for my nation, especially for the last race of the season,” he said. “This has been a tough year for A1 Team Lebanon and even though we have come close, we still haven't scored our elusive first point in the series. I really hope that this weekend I can finally get Lebanon on the A1GP score sheet, the fans are so supportive of me and the team and I just really want to get some points to reward them for their dedication.
“The Brands Hatch Circuit is a great challenge for a driver, it's really technical and fun to drive, however I haven't been in the car for the last two race meetings, so I'll need to get back up to speed during Friday practice. We have a great technical team here, and I have experience of the Brands Hatch Circuit from racing here in year one, so we'll be working hard to pull this together ready for Sunday's race.”
