The Aston Martin Racing team is buzzing at the moment, as we are very close to the first race of the new DBR9 here at the famous Sebring 12 Hour race.
We got here on Monday and started running the latest developments from the winter testing. The track was very different from when we were last here at the end of January - we had more grip back then and, this week, the track seems to be two seconds slower. Sebring is a track that changes its grip levels quite a lot, and this makes it difficult to find a good set-up on the car as you end up chasing your tail.
We are still learning so much about the DBR9 every time we go out on the track. As this is an early part of development of the car, we weren't expecting to turn up and blow people away when we arrived, but testing so far has been encouraging. The speed and reliability of the car has been impressive. A lot of people have commented that the car looks amazing on and off the track. We are homing in on the sweet spot on the car, and I am looking forward to racing the car on Saturday.
Everyone on the team is working well together, which is great to see. The Prodrive guys and girls are very committed to making the DBR9 a winning car. We are starting the race in good shape and a podium finish is on the cards.
Watch this space for the race report....
