New BMW M3 hits the track.

Sort Comments:

New BMW M3 hits the track.

BMW has started testing of the new GT2-spec M3 Coupe that will spearhead its return to the American Le Mans Series next season.

Does anyone know why exactly BMW has shunned the DTM, but races in pretty much every other touring / production based class available?

Last time I think I saw them racing in German Touring Cars was in the Jagermeister sponsored 6 Series many years ago (but was that even a factory effort?)

I think because, BMW wanted to race R6 engine type but in DTM there is V8 engine type.

Perhaps the US is a bigger market than Germany to sell cars.

I guess BMW want to compete with a production based car, not in a prototype series which the DTM is.

Doesn't sound much like a V8 to me? Infact it sounded like the S2000 car for the most part of that video...

There aren't that many V8's these days that "sound" like V8's it's just an old interpretation of what we think one should sound like. Doesn't make it any less a V8 because it doesn't rumble.
I've been in and driven the Road Version (my friends father owns one) this car is awesome and i LOVE the sound they make when you wind it out to 8grand before shifting. The brakes are crazy and the car just looks great especially the carbon fibre roof.
Flick that M button and launch the car in no time. All i know is if i owned it, i wouldn't have a license for very long!!! (I'm in Australia, strict rules!!)
If only i could afford one for myself! Can't wait to see some competitive times for it!

I can't wait to see the Bimmer in action. And it also represents another manufacture in the track. Gt2 is getting insane.

I'm sure it will be very effective but it looks like a touring car with a big wing, rather than a genuine GT.

Look at the cars that it will be competing against: Ferrari, Aston Martin, Ascari, Mosler et al.

Need I say more!!!!!!

Too many silly editing tricks during the video, barely able to see the car go through a single corner uninterrupted.
