Aston Martin Racing faces a race against time to repair its # 57 entry following a racing incident in practice for the weekend's Petit Le Mans showpiece at Road Atlanta.

AMR newcomer Jonny Kane was at the wheel of the DBR9 at the time of the accident, which saw the Irishman exiting over the brow of one of the circuit's trademark hills to be faced with the Horag Lista Lola prototype, which Eric van der Poele had recently taken onto the track. The ensuing collision caused front-end damage to the Aston, and extensive damage to the prototype.

The Aston Martin team is now preparing to fly spare parts over from its English base in order to ready the #57 for Kane and co-drivers David Brabham and Darren Turner for Friday's qualifying session.

“The car is repairable, we are just not sure how long it will take,” team principal George Howard-Chappell revealed, “The team are working hard and we are aiming to get the car ready in time for qualifying. It is not ideal that we will lose a day, but we tested here over the weekend and should be okay.”
