Corsa Motorsports will hope for a solid home run this weekend as the American Le Mans Series heads to Miller Motorsport Park for the fourth round of the season.
The
Ferrari team heads into the Utah Grand Prix having finished fourth in the GT2 class in the past two races and will now aim to breakthrough onto the podium for the first time at what is expected to be one of the quickest races in ALMS history.
The team has been busy testing ahead of the weekend in an effort to keep learning about the Dunlop tyres it switched to after the Sebring 12 Hours and Johnny Mowlem who will again share driving duties with Gunnar Jeanette said he was confident for the upcoming weekend.
We had some testing scheduled prior to the race at Utah which went very well as we learned quite a bit about the Dunlop tyres and their preferred set-up. he said. We've been quite competitive in the last two races even without testing and, with the testing opportunity, I think we'll be that much better. The GT2 class is amongst the most competitive class the ALMS has, so I just hope we'll be able to run with the leaders like we did at Long Beach.
We're aiming for a podium finish in Utah. That's a tough proposition, given the quality of the opposition. But we've been very close in the last two events and we're going for one better.
Team boss Steve Pruitt added that he didn't feel the team had been in a position in the past to talk about fighting for victories but said he didn't feel it would be long until that started to happen.
We haven't been in a position to talk about winning and podiums to date, but I don't feel like it's too far out of the question, he said. This weekend we want to make a stand our home turf; if that stand is a podium, so be it.
