de Ferran Motorsports crew member Keith Jones, injured in Saturday's American Le Mans Series race at Mid-Ohio, has been taken off the critical list as he begins the next phase of his recovery.
Jones was the most seriously injured of those caught up in a pit-fire during the Acura Sports Car Challenge event, when the de Ferran car caught light during a routine pit-stop. While the team changed tyres and refuelled the car, a fire broke out in the team's pit area and, while driver Simon Pagenaud managed to escape the cockpit and the ALMS safety team arrived quickly, some crew members sustained injuries in the incident.
Jones was immediately transported to hospital, where he was listed in a critical condition for 72 hours, but has since been transferred from the Ohio State University Medical Centre to the Richard M Fairbanks Burns Centre at Wishard in the Wishard Health Services in Indianapolis. His condition has been updated from critical to serious.
Team owner and lead driver Gil de Ferran has asked that all wishes and cards for Jones be sent to team headquarters at:
