Team Modena and the Christians in Motorsport outfit have take pole position for the final two rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Rockingham.

The opening session saw Jason Templeman lead the way ahead of his first outing in the Modena Lamborghini Gallardo – returning to the series this weekend after missing Croft with engine problems – while Alan Simonen was responsible for putting the CIM Ferrari top of the timesheets for the final race of the season around the Rockingham Sportscar circuit.

In the opening session, Templeman posted a best time of 1min 22.605secs which was good enough to see him outpace the Tech 9 Porsche of Matt Harris, the 997 making the most of its recently acquired update kit to go second quickest. Alex Mortimer was third fastest for Team RPM, despite going off into the gravel at Tarzan.

The Eclipse Mosler, in the hands of Oliver Bryant was fourth quickest from Mike Greenhalgh in the lone Berlanga Ascari, while Nigel Foster was sixth in the second of the RPM Vipers. Points leaders Guy Harrington and Ben de Zille Butler qualified in tenth place with Butler at the wheel.

In trouble during the session were both the VRS Motor Finance and Eurotech teams, Phil Burton stopping the VRS Ferrari on the entry to the pitlane with a driveshaft issue and the Eurotech Ascari returning to the pits with a coolant leak.

In GTC, Jamie Smyth gave RSS Performance pole position ahead of Andrew Howard's Ferrari, with the Richmond Racing Ginetta well off the pace after stopping early in the session. Team Aero, running as an invitational entry this weekend with Keith Ahlers' Morgan Plus 8, were 23rd overall.

In the second session, Simonsen led the way in the Ferrari he shares with Hector Lester, his time of 1min 21.568secs being good enough to see off the challenge of Johnny Cocker in the bio-fuelled Barwell Aston Martin DBRS9. Behind them, Adam Jones at the wheel of the Lamborghini was third quickest, with Nick Foster continuing the solid form of the #7 Viper as he put it onto the second row of the grid.
