As expected, HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship outfit A-Tech has confirmed it will expand to run cars in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in 2008.
The team, which fielded a brace of Alfa Romeo 156s in the BTCC this season, will run two cars in the GT series, with the first one a
Ferrari 430 to be shared by Richard Marsh and former BTCC race-winner Anthony Reid.
"I cannot wait, Marsh said. The benefits that Anthony brings to our team are enormous. It is great for me as I stand to learn a lot more about how it should be done. We are confident we can run at the front and Anthony really is a major coup for us as a team."
Talks are ongoing with a number of drivers about a second car, although team principle Julian Griffin admitting that a good year should ahead.
"We have some more interesting news to release but we are not quite ready yet, he said. We are talking to several drivers about the second car plus Richard has some more news about some sponsorship deals we have done. It's looking like a great year for A-Tech."
The GT programme is set to run alongside a continued entry in the BTCC, with Reid having joined fellow touring car racer Rob Collard and former British GT runner Ben Collins in testing the Alfa Romeo at
Snetterton.
We're very keen to continue with Alfa in 2008, team co-owner Dave Pinkney said, hence the test with three very experienced drivers who were helping us with the set-up problems we've encountered this past season.
