Porsche team pulls out of championship following equalisation move.

Comment on this Story
Trackspeed has withdrawn from the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with immediate effect following equalisation measures which it feels have rendered its car uncompetitive.

The team, which is the only one to have entered a Porsche 997 GT3 into the series this season, made the decision following the most recent rounds of the season and Rockingham and follows on from Beechdean Motorsport's decision to miss the second race in Northamptonshire in protest about measures applied to its GT4 Aston Martin N24.

"The Trackspeed Porsche 997 GT3 S, the only Porsche currently in the British GT series, has not been equalised on the championship's Avon rubber," a team statement read, "and as such it is felt the equalisation penalties currently applied disadvantage the car, which is neither in the interest of the team or indeed the championship.

"This is a decision that has not been lightly taken but is an issue which Trackspeed feel must be addressed. It is hoped the matter can be resolved allowing the team to return to what is does best, entertaining racing."

The team will continue to run the car in the FIA GT3 Championship as well compete in the GT2 class of the full FIA GT Championship.
