Aston Martin team elects to go to Britcar following British GT Championship withdrawal.

Beechdean Motorsport has announced that it will make the switch into Britcar following its withdrawal from the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

The Aston Martin team elected to pull out of the series due to issues over equalisation in the GT4 class, with the Ginetta G50 having dominated the class since the start of the season.

Having evaluated the various options available Beechdean will now debut the Aston Martin N24 in the Britcar three-hour race at Silverstone on 19 July in preparation for the Britcar 24 back at the Northamptonshire venue in September.

“We have been evaluating other options and decided that the Britcar events will be very competitive,” team boss Andrew Howard said. “It won't be easy because endurance racing can be unpredictable, but we are really looking forward to getting back to racing. After success at Le Mans again this year for Aston Martin we know that the N24 can be strong on 24-hour events.”

Howard and Jamie Smyth took victory at Silverstone earlier in the season in the FIA GT4 European Cup.
