Defending British GT Champion Bradley Ellis is undergoing tests in hospital following a high-speed accident in the second race of the weekend at
Thruxton.
Ellis was involved in a three-way battle for the GT4 class lead with Team RPM team-mate Nigel Moore and Rob Austin when contact with Austin's car coming up Woodham Hill saw the #52 Ginetta G50 spear off to the left of the circuit.
Ellis' car slammed into a marshals post on the outside of the circuit before coming to rest extensively damaged with the race being red-flagged as a result.
The 21-year-old was able to get out of the wrecked car himself before being transferred to hospital where he continues to undergo tests to determine the seriousness of any injuries.
"Bradley managed to get out of the car but was taken by ambulance to Winchester Hospital where he has already undergone extensive x-rays and tests," a statement issued by the Ellis family read. "The x-rays have proved inconclusive and further CT scans are being carried out to his neck and spinal area. Bradley is conscious and conversing."
No marshals were injured in the accident.
