Bradley Ellis has been cleared to leave hospital following his high-speed accident in the second Avon Tyres British GT Championship race of the weekend at
Thruxton.
Ellis was taken to Winchester Hospital following the incident in the #52 Ginetta G50 which saw the 21-year-old go off track on the run up Woodham Hill to the Chicane – where the car made heavy contact with a marshals post.
Having undergone a series of x-rays and CT scans, the 2007 champion was diagnosed with a fractured bone in his neck and was forced to spend the night in hospital.
However, he has now been cleared to head home to continue his recovery before focusing on making a return to racing.
"Consultants at Winchester Hospital are delighted with Bradley's progress overnight and he has been cleared to go home today," the latest statement read. "His neck collar has been removed and he will not need to wear a neck brace during his recovery period.
"Bradley is in high spirits this morning and eager to get home to recuperate for a swift return to racing as soon as he is cleared by his doctors."
