Bradley Ellis has been given the all-clear to race at this weekend's
FIA GT3 event at the Oschersleben, just days after being involved in a horrific accident at
Thruxton.
The British GT Championship paddock came to a standstill after Ellis' Ginetta G50 was tipped into a spin at one of the fastest points on the Hampshire circuit and it hit a marshals post at considerable speed.
Despite the severity of the accident, one that warranted an overnight stay in Winchester Hospital, Ellis escaped major injury and, despite having a compression fracture to the sixth vertebra, he doesn't need the support of a neck brace.
Subsequent medical treatment into the week has since ruled that Ellis can get straight back into the cockpit this weekend, where he will take of the wheel of the Matech Ford GT he has already won twice with this season alongside Alex Mortimer.
“I'm thrilled to be getting back in the Ford GT four days after leaving hospital because I'm feeling fine,” Ellis, who required a new helmet and HANS device after they written off in the crash, said.
“I've had a lot of tests and treatment this week and I wouldn't risk racing unless I felt completely ready. I'm really looking forward to getting down to business on Friday, and scoring some valuable championship points in Germany would certainly end the week on a better note than it started.”
