Jon Barnes and James Gornall have secured the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship with two races still to run after taking seventh place in the second race at
Brands Hatch.
The Team Trimite Brookspeed pair had taken a fourth win of the year in the first hour long race on the Saturday, with the results in that race meaning that only Christians in Motorsport pairing Allan Simonsen and Hector Lester could prevent Barnes and Gornall taking the second straight title for the Dodge Viper.
When Simonsen and Lester were forced to retire from the second race, the championship crown was secured although a rear-wheel problem meant the car could only take the flag in seventh having led in the early stages.
The Trimite success came a day after Stuart Linn and Matt Nicol-Jones wrapped up the inaugural GT4 title for IMS Motorsport.
A third place finish in the first race behind winner Nigel Moore and second placed pairing Hunter Abbott and Rob Austin was enough to put the duo out of reach with three races to spare.
They then followed it up with a sixth win from twelve races in race two to celebrate the title in style.
Indeed the #88 G50 has finished on the class podium in every race held so far this year.
