Late deal ensures James Gornall and Jon Barnes will race at Donington Park.

2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship title winners James Gornall and Jon Barnes are set to take part in the season finale at Donington Park, despite earlier suggestions that the pair would be forced to miss the final round of the year.

The Team Trimite duo wrapped up the crown at Brands Hatch back in July after a stunning season at the wheel of their Dodge Viper but it looked like their season had come to an end following the penultimate race of the campaign at Silverstone when it was announced that Gornall would be unable to compete in the two-hour Donington event.

With that in mind, Barnes revealed he would also miss the race so as to avoid the possibility of taking the championship crown alone, but a last minute deal has been struck to allow Gornall to race – with Barnes now also taking the opportunity to try and bring a winning end to the championship winning campaign.

Should the pair manage to take the chequered flag first, it would be a fifth win of the year.
