Kiyo puts the title within grasp, Lavilla concedes

Ryuichi Kiyonari took one step closer to clinching the 2006 British Superbike crown in race one at Brands Hatch, stretching out an 18 point lead over Leon Haslam as defending champion Gregorio Lavilla saw his hopes of retaining his title in tatters.

“I was leading when they had to stop the race because of the rain,” Haslam said. “That was frustrating. I was sitting pretty and waiting to make a move towards the end when it was red-flagged again, so now all I can do is win the next one and see what happens with Kiyo.”
