We have also been testing at Calafat in Spain. Rizla Suzuki hired the track for two days for Chris and I to have a shakedown test with the new bike, which we were both really pleased with. The second day got cut short due to rain but otherwise the weather was nice out there. I was pleased to be consistently fast over the two days and I even finished with a time that was quicker than Chris’.
I recently went to order my new motor home with my personal sponsors A+A Lamb Fencing. I am so pleased with it; I can’t put it into words how grateful I am. I went with them and Laynie to Westcroft Motor Home Centre and picked a lovely brand new American motor home.
All I had to do then was be able to drive the bloody thing as it is 7.5-tonnes, so I applied for my Class C driving licence, went on a course for seven days and took my test at the end of it, which I can tell you I did fail. It was ridiculous! I know I can drive the 17-tonne truck that I took the test in, but the examiner thought otherwise. I put in for a re-test and passed with flying colours! Now I can drive a rigid vehicle up to 32-tonnes, I may do a few night shifts here and there…only joking!
I also collected my new Mitsubishi pick-up truck that I have been sponsored with by Leyford Construction. It’s a lovely vehicle. I do get a Suzuki car as part of my contract but I use that more for work for the team or promotional events, whereas I can put my MX bike on the back of the pick-up and it is so handy!
The other day myself, Simon Buckmaster, Chris, Pete Jennings, Bubba, Robert Wicks, Jason McLean and John Reynolds all from the team went and had a day at a hotel learning about the Rizla product. It was such an enjoyable day and they put on a ‘Doctor Who’ theme for us for the events. Chris and I especially learned a lot more about Rizla as a company, and it was great to be invited down with them.
I will post another update at the end of next week and let you know how the test went out in Spain.
