Silverstone was the toughest race I’ve had yet this year. From first free practice to the race we just never got comfortable on the bike. The track is very ripply from the
F1 cars doing so much testing there. We really struggled to dial out the chatter, I’ve had a wee bit here and there, but as Silverstone it was horrendous. We spent most of weekend trying to get rid of that and not getting a good race setting. We ended up with third on the podium, it was ok but it was disappointing as I didn’t feel I could give it one hundred percent. I left there disappointed.
Oulton was kinda the same because of the chatter thing we had moved the bike away from our base setting. I thought I had a better setting for the race than I had and I came into suspension problems about half way through. Once again it was frustrating as I didn’t feel I pushed one hundred percent at the end of the race and I got beaten by both Dennis Hobbs and Ian for the second week in a row.
I’m still leading the championship by twenty six points but I’m frustrated as I wasn’t giving it my best. Hopefully the next round will be better, its
Snetterton and I’ve always been quite good round there. Hopefully we can get a good setting on the bike and no chatter problems. I want to get back into winning ways again and gain some points on the boys instead of just holding my position.
I’ve been racing against my team-mate a lot recently, the first person you want to beat is your team-mate because he is on the same bike. Ian has been riding well and obviously the chatter problems I’ve been having haven’t affected him as much as me because he is quite happy pushing the front. I’m maybe being a bit cautious as well as I know I can’t afford to crash because I’d throw away 25 points. You don’t want to be thinking about that you want to be giving it one hundred percent, winning races and that way the championship looks after itself.
