Laverty column: No luck for the Irish.

Wednesday, 27th June 2007

In his latest exclusive column this season for Crash.net, Relentless Suzuki’s Michael Laverty talks about how his Supersport Championship lead has dwindled...

I’m not getting too worried yet, I feel in the second half of the season I’m hoping to find anything from half a second to three quarters of a second a lap at most circuits. I think that is what I’ve been missing we’ve got a few wee problems that we haven’t ironed out so I’m hoping it will bring in a few more wins.

What I’ve been doing is ok, seconds and thirds but I really need to be taking race wins, if you are doing that then the championship takes care of itself. I need to get that back on track, get a couple of wins under my belt and that will give me a cushion so I can start conserving my points over the last three or four races instead of now at the mid point.

I headed down to Donington Park for the MotoGP to give my brother Eugene some support and to see if I could help him in anyway from the other side of the track. It’s difficult, I believe he is having a good season and he is riding well considering his bike is down on speed but it is quite tough as every circuit he has been to he has been learning a new track.

I was supposed to go to the Isle of Man but I took a holiday with my girlfriend for two weeks so I missed the chance to go to the Isle of Man. The team were out there and keeping busy, they managed to get one win with Bruce Anstey. Apart from that it has just really been doing my usual training and getting ready for the next round.

See you at Knockhill.

Michael
