Laverty column: Points make prizes.

Wednesday, 18th July 2007

In his latest exclusive column this season for Crash.net, Michael Laverty talks about settling for points at a water logged Oulton Park...

It was good to see John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson getting on the podium, I guess they haven’t had the best season on the short circuits but they did the business at the TT. I didn’t mind really getting beaten by them as they aren’t direct competition for me in the Championship. I think if everything had been right with the clutch I think I could have had something for them and probably could have caught them. Fair play to them, they were both on it!

I’m looking forward to Mallory, I’m hoping for some sunshine, it is about time after the last three meetings it has been nothing but rain. I’m looking forward to Mallory and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season now. I’ve got a good comfortable setting on the bike, finally got a base setting at Mondello Park in the dry and it seems to be working well, it’s comfortable and the team is working good. Hopefully if the weather comes we can get some dry races in and show what we are capable of.

I’m not sure what I’m doing next year yet, I’ve spoken with my team boss and he is keen to go Superbike. He is going to sit down with Suzuki over the next week or so and find out what they want him to do. I think he is quite interested to put us on a Superbike next year so that is a possibility. Every thing could change before the end of the season. My main focus is to wrap up this title and then go back into Superbike for 2008 which would be nice.

See you at Mallory.
