Hi Guys,
Well that wasn’t supposed to happen. The bike just stopped on me, and it wasn’t running right all weekend. It wouldn’t rev and it felt like it was going really slow but the lap times weren’t too bad. I was hoping it would last the race but it just stopped on me going onto the back straight, it was as if someone had switched it off.
Apparently the crank shaft sensor failed and that was that. It was a bit depressing; it has just been one of those weekends. Every single session there has been a problem, nothing major just wee small niggly things. The team have worked so hard, probably harder than any other weekend as we have had so many problems. To come away without a finish is quite depressing really.
My team-mate Ian Lowry had a last corner incident with Dennis Hobbs, I didn’t see it but I spoke to him and he wasn’t too impressed. He is closet to me in the championship so it was better for me for him to finish third than to win it. I didn’t wish it upon him but it was a bit of misfortune and a run in with Dennis Hobbs, so I’m expecting a bit of rivalry between them for the rest of the year.
I need to maintain what I’ve got, I’ve got a 16 point lead so I’ll need to win the next one to try and get my lead back up before
Brands Hatch, I’d like to sewn it up at
Donington. I came to
Croft this weekend thinking, “If I win today and then again at Cadwell, that is the Championship won,” but now it is a totally new game plan for the next few races. I suppose it is keeping it interesting, every time I build up a big lead something happens. The first one Billy McConnell took me off and now a machine failure. No one wants me to win earlier they want it to come down to a show down at the final round.
I was really annoyed after the race but you just have to get on with it and look forward to the next race and hope we can regroup there. I want to come back and get a bit of reliability and just be fast that is the main thing.
