Aaron Walker was up with us which was a bit of a surprise. He has always been a talent, I guess he is just getting to grips with the 600 now and he was riding well. It was a bit strange having a new face in there as you don’t really know how they ride, so that was another thing, I had to try and be careful around him. Once I got to the front it was my own race, I just rode as normal, chipped away and watched the lap timer. I had a comfortable enough cushion to wrap it up so I didn’t get too excited and didn’t take any chances. I didn’t know Dennis had crashed, at that time I mustn’t have looked at my pit board as they did signal me that he was out. I just wanted to finish the race.
I’m looking forward to Brands now I can just go there and enjoy the weekend. Some people have suggested I ride the Superbike there but I think that it would be too much work for the lads to get it ready in time. It would be interesting but to be honest I’d be happy to go and enjoy my weekend in the 600s with no pressure, just go for another win just to crown off the season!
During the break in the season I went to Misano and spent a week out in Italy with my brother Eugene at the GP. We had a bit of a holiday there on the beach and then I went to America for a week. I had a look at the final round of the AMA championship at Laguna Seca. Chaz Davies was out there so I was with him for a look around.
I’ve a few options for next season, I’ve got options in AMA and looking at it I do see myself there in the future but I don’t know if it is right now, maybe in a few years time. I have a good offer from Suzuki to stay in the team I’m with and move up to Superbike, I’ll just have to weight things up in the next few days and make the decision before next weekend. Hopefully it will all come together and we will be in BSB next year, the Suzuki seems to be getting stronger every week with the Rizla guys so I think it could be a good package.
That is all from me for now.
See you at
Brands Hatch.
