He was joined on the podium once again by Tom Sykes on the Stobart Honda and Championship leader, HM Plant Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari.
Shane Byrne had to start from pit lane as he came into his pit box at the end of the warm-up lap and promptly jumped on his spare machine. This left him way back in the field but he plugged away and managed to finish in sixth place.
Off the line it was Chris Walker on the Rizla Suzuki who got away first followed by Sykes, Jonathan Rea and Kiyonari. Sykes was keen to take his first win and shoved his green machine under Walker at the Melbourne loop but Walker took it back immediately.
Sykes settled into the race for a few laps before trying for the lead again, this time he got Walker at the Esses and made it stick. Rea appeared to have a problem as both Kiyo and Haslam romped by him on lap three.
Tommy Hill on the Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha came into pits on lap four, he damaged ligaments in his right thumb during his crash in race one. He decided to try and race but it was a bit too much for him. This injury could have an impact on his world Supersport ride next weekend at Vallelunga in Italy with the SSP Yamaha team.
Kiyo was on the move and tried to get the better of Walker at Goddards but he got out of shape and ran wide. However he made a move on lap seven which relegated Walker to third and Haslam followed Kiyo lead also passing Walker.
On lap ten Kiyo made it into the lead at the Esses and one lap later his nemesis from race one, Cal Crutchlow retired with a technical problem. Sykes in the meanwhile was getting duffed up by Haslam at the Esses. It was know Kiyo from Haslam with Sykes in third.
During the run through Redgate Kiyo got on the gas early and almost high sided, he ran wide onto the grass giving the lead to Haslam and putting himself back to fourth place behind Walker.
