I’ve been training hard for the last couple of months in preparation for my new job at Honda. I got the flu recently and it has turned into a chest infection, so I’ve had to just keep going as best I can – I can’t not train! I’ve had it for five weeks now and am on about four different types of antibiotics; I’m not amused at all…
Despite the infection I have been training a lot, though, and I’ve lost weight which is what I wanted to do – I’m down to my target weight. I’ve also been busy working on sponsorship deals, so that has been keeping me occupied.
I went down to
Brands Hatch recently too, for a driving day that Honda organised. I got to take to the track on all sorts of bikes, and there were a few cars there as well. I had a spin in a Civic Type R and an S2000.
I must admit it was fun being on-track on four wheels instead of two; it gave me a whole different perspective. It did get a bit leery and hectic! Steve Parrish was there as were a bunch of guys from MCN, so we ended up racing. I won of course!
The Motorcycle Expo Trade Show was also fun, as I met the CIA Insurance team and did a few promotional bits and bobs with them. It was a bit different to the NEC show as it wasn’t open to the public; it was trade only but I still enjoyed it.
After that I went to the Excel show for two days on behalf of Honda, and did some interviews on the MCN stage. It was good fun and we got to spend a few days in London. I was with Stuart Easton, Craig Jones, Jonny Rea and Tommy Hill – we had a good time!
Tommy was injured while testing, but he is getting a lot better which is great to see. He has just recently started training again, but to keep him occupied he has been designing logos for everyone. He is working on mine at the moment – cheers mate!
