So for 2005 we are concentrating on getting all the weight as close to the centre of gravity as this is the way to go and the way things are done in
MotoGP. Take the RCV Honda for example, everything is situated in the centre of the bike.
In order to save the weight there is a great deal of time spent making things as light as possible. For instance we use carbon-kevlar fairings, which weigh absolutely nothing in comparison to a standard plastic panel. All the fasteners and fixings are made from titanium, a lot of the castings are magnesium and the exhaust is titanium and carbon fibre.
The wheels are forged magnesium. The screen is light-weight, even the wiring is as small a diameter as possible to carry the current, to keep the weight down. A road bike without fuel will probably weigh around 182 KG, so we have managed to save 20 KG. In a racing sense that is performance increase as there is less weight to stop and accelerate, and it make the bike more manageable and handle better.
