It’s funny but since
Donington has been resurfaced the water just lies on the top of the track. Whenever it stops raining the water does clear off the line so it’s not too bad then but it is treacherous when the water lies as we have seen. Last year at the British GP here all the riders were slipping off, it has been the same this weekend with so many crashes, not the best place to have wet weather racing. There is nothing you can do about it, same for everyone and fair play to Scott Smart he had everybody’s card on the last lap so it is quite surprising and good for the Vivaldi team to get their first win.
It was a good weekend for us, we have made some good progress with the bike, and right through practice I was consistently top four on race tyres. I only put it on the second row when I put in my qualifier and didn’t get a lap in so second row start and a fourth place finish - we are starting to make some progress now.
I’m looking forward to
Thruxton, I’ve been pretty good round there in Supersport, and I’ve had a Supersport win there. Last year was a bit daunting at Thruxton on the Superbike because of the high speed over the bumps, your bike moving everywhere takes a bit of getting used to. We’ve got a completely different bike to what we raced round there last year so I think the package will be better and I should be able to get into the groove early on. We have got the speed so we should be in there fighting again next weekend and I definitely want to get on the podium soon. I’m sixth in the championship at the minute, my aim is top five over the season and I think that is still possible.
