The Rob Mac Racing Yamaha rider was hit by the 170kg Superbike - travelling in excess of 120mph - after Rizla's Tom Sykes fell in front him following contact with Leon Haslam.
Its a cunning plan to get all his bad luck out of the way in the first meeting.
He's tough mind. I wouldn't have bothered getting up for a few of days if I'd just been swatted by a Gixer like that. He just says his knees hurt. Incredible ..
i've been diaspointed by some of karls performances in the past, but i've got a feeling with a change of luck that he may well be a dark horse this year, i hope so because before the accident he was looking very strong, karl is so tuff it is untrue. good luck to karl and VY for the rest of the year.!!!

I think Calzaghe would have issues knocking Harris out! Glad to hear hes ok though. Slightly off topic but was anyone else impressed at how hard Tom Sykes came out and roade afterwards... bearing in mind he was also his by his bike! gret to see him fully lit everywhere even smoking the rear tyre across the startline! i bet his rear tyre did 5 times the distance that anyone elses did! looking forward to round 2!

Great to see Harris and Rutter get some of their old form back - hope they both win races this year !

I was disappointed with Sykes following the accident involving Harris. Instead of Sykes running over to check that Harris was alright, Sykes gesticulated at Haslam, even though it was Sykes fault! He gets a bit of a black mark from me due to that.

Donni, you watch that video again and again, Haslam was very slow on that part of the track and it is were eveybody over took him time and time again, im not saying that it was totally haslam but when you look at the closing speed of sykes it took him by suprise as to how slow haslam was at that point! and he had no where to go... much sorry for Harris though.

Fair play to Karl after that. As an Aria wearer its making me think now about buying a Shoei instead!!!
seeing karl with a couple of bandaids on his lip made me smile, when i saw the accident i thought the worse,i saw sykes freaking out and i thought he was looking at karl and maybe there were bits missing...but seeing him walk to the ambulance i was mighty happy.it was a hell of a punch he took from the suzuki but he's up for round 2.good luck karl m8.....
You deserve a change of fortune, you've got the speed I just reckon the racecraft bit needs a bit more fine tuning.
I hope you continue the good pace next round.

The first time I saw the accident, I blamed Haslam. But Whitham on Eurosport correctly pointed out that Haslam was in front and could not see Sykes behind him. Sykes put his bike in a position where it left him high and dry if Haslam was to change line. Haslam did change line and the rest is history.

i have to agree with zx9r steve with the incident involving haslam and sykes.haslam was very slow on the exit and really in my eyes didn't really give sykes any place to go.what i did find very annoying was when on eurosport 2's coverage was when tony carter asked ron haslam, paul denning, john reynolds and neil tuxworth on there opinions on the accident, somehow i don't think you are going to get a fair and un-biased view of it.why not instead ask someone from yamaha or ducati ? or former rider(s)views

"haslam was very slow on the exit and really in my eyes didn't really give sykes any place to go" - i get what you are saying here but maybe he knew he was slow there and was defending his position (it is a race remember) so the emphasis was on Tom Sykes being the overtaking rider... I'm not going to blame Tom Sykes though as i believe it was just a racing incident but i don't think any rider did anything wrong. Leon Haslam was defending his position, Tom Sykes was looking to get a run on him and it went wrong unfortunately Tom Sykes came off worse and also Karl Harris was unlucky to get caught up in it...
