I have been holding my breath everytime someone crashes, almost didnt watch the races as Jones death makes it all seem so pointless.
Hope Shakey is ok, bike racing has had to much bad luck and deaths in the last few months as it is.

How come Shakey was not declared the winner? I thought that if a crash caused a red flag after two thirds distance, then the result is declared from the previous lap.

Moot there's a clause that the person who causes (or is held to have caused) the red flag is excluded.
hope shakey is ok after his tumble today, both sal and i wish him well!!

Exactly Sam. I thought the results classification was taken from the previous full lap, in which case Shakey was in the lead. As you say, poor Craig Jones was credited with second place last week at Brands, so what's so different here ?
it all seems rather odd to me that in the result of last weeks race craig was given second position whereas today Shakey was not placed despite the fact that the race was over two thirds complete, does anyone have a rational explanation for this ??

Also, Shakey apparently came off after hitting a patch of oil dropped by another rider who was being flagged to leave the track when Shakeys accident happened, so it was hardly his fault was it ??

Are the rules slightly different in BSB compared with WSBK/WSS?
Posted by Boo - Unregistered (113 days ago)
I honestly dont know Boo, but i imagine the rules are the same in both BSB AND WSB, can anyone enlighten us?

hope shakey is ok,cant have done his bad back any good, but the races were so full of incidents did you see the ambulance convoy...must have kept the local hospital busy.my mates all made the comment about shakey not being placed, but i dont know the rules on that either,i'm sure some boffin will come on and tell us though.....
I hope Shakey's ok, i too thought he'd be declared winner the only reason i can think Craigs was classified second place is because it was an aggregate/two part race.

Rules for BSB and WSK are different, shame i know cos he had a reasonable lead. in WSK your times are taken into acount from both races, if race is stopped for any reason, in BSB it is a full on race from the last full lap the race had to be declared too dangerous to continue. Craigs Brilliant second place was due to the times bein added together. :( RIP matey keep on racing up there make sure hislop and the likes of sheene have got a race on their hands..
Glad Leon got a Win - but Shakeys crash was a Sore one - We were right at that corner and it did not look good for him (lots of medical staff & more than usual)- Hope he is ok !!!!!

You can hear the scrapes on camera long before they put the red flag out... at a short circuit like thats its possible they made it across the line. Only reason i can think of as i expected shakey to get the win. Not too hot on the rules in that department.
Either way some good racing, good to see Sykes back on the top step! Good to see a few marks of respect to Jonesey too. COuple of bikes with the number 18 on... Sykes and Ellison for definite and also Crutchlow wearing a replica Jones lid. Nice touch.
Shakeys sore but OK, more upset about losing podium bonus

"Despite the unfortunate end to the race, Haslam was duly declared the winner after Byrne was taken out of the results having been considered to have caused the red flag." - Taken from the article regarding Haslam winning the 2nd race.
It also says that Shakey is a bit little beat up but otherwise unhurt.
