HM Plant Honda is looking for two new riders after it was officially confirmed that Leon Haslam will leave the team for a World Superbike ride in 2009.
Wish you the best of luck next season in wsb hope the new team is as good as the one you are leaving. It was an exciting season with you as a part of it. GOOD LUCK, JT from Texas

Not being funny, and I wish him the best of luck, but thought that with the exodus of good riders - and most of his competition - he might stay in BSB as next year would've been his best chance of winning!!!
Guess its Leon Camiers to win then, or James Ellison!!!
Good luck Leon, but sorry, thats another season with no title!!
On a few sites they are saying that Sylvain Guintoli is going to sign for Rizla BSB team for 2009 with an eye on getting back into MotoGP through Rizla. That could make it interesting!!
Next year is about who gets the best bike and you have to think the HM Plant Honda / Rizla Suzuki (excluding the Airwaves Ducatis) are the best bikes at the moment.

Best of luck to Haslam glad to hear he's not still thinking about going off to AMA. Camier or Ellison do look a good bet for 2009, especially as I think Ellison might get a HM Plant ride for next season.

I'm with rob on this I reckon Ellison will go to HM Plant and deservedly so, he's put in some good performances on the Hydrex bike.

Sorry but I don't think he's good enough to make a WSB podium regardless of the bike under him. To be competitive at WSB you've got to be dominating BSB and he's never done that. I see him as a perennial 5-10th place man at world level.
I think Camier is a brighter prospect than Haslam amongst the brits still left in the UK.

Guinters in BSB would be great, he is after all an honourary Englishman! But are Suzuki going to give him a ride in MotoGP?? They let Spies go
Wish him the best because he's going to need it being a merely average rider in a Sea of talent....it's all very well scoring loads of points in the second half of the season (07 & 08) when the titles almost gone and the pressure is off. Punting Sykes off at Oulton early doors was a good pointer....never rated him, he's merely average. Ellison would have shown him a clean pair of heals if he'd been HM PLant mounted this year....anyway, enough of someone trading on their old fella's reputation (although what of significance did he ever win? certainly not a GP) and all hail the return of the Stalker - I hope he can finally grab the BSB title this year, but I doubt that also (sadly).

Sheesh, can we stop calling him 'Guinters' from this point on? Toby 'Partridge' Moody has a lot answer for, no one else in the world called him that before he started spouting his cobblers.......I'm made up him and his ridiculous commentary is gone from next year......I'll tell yah though it's a slippery slope and we need to draw a line in the sand on this because before we know it we'll all be using words likes "klicks" (was he a Vietnam Vet?)....lord save us from this utter stupidity....anyone for Public School Rugby?

Good luck next year Leon - never been a great fan but he seems to have got it together in the second half of this season.
As a replacement rider - what about the Aussie who is leading the European Superstock and won the British Superstock back in 2006 ? Isn't he too old to do another season in Superstock ????? Brendan ?
Considering Leon Haslam took the first half of the season to get used to the new bike and tyres, and yet he is comfortably beating all the 'amazing new talent' I am suprised that anybody doesn't think he is good enough.. I hope he gets a good bike next year and reckon if he does he'll do better than Shakey who has looked ordinary this second half, Sykes will do nowt on the Yam, premature decision...

Hasalm is good enough. The HM Plant Honda's at the beginning of the season were a pig to ride and it's only the latter half of the season that has seen them improve. Ten Kate's Honda's have not exactly been "on the pace all year" either and look at the talent they have signed for them! It can sometimes take time to get a new bike on the pace and this year has been one of those years. Give the guy some credit and wish him well for 2009 in what looks to be a good year for the Brits. Come on guys, kick some but and make us all proud...

Typical. The nay sayers are on Haslam's back before the ink has even dried on his contract. He has proven he is quick so the heckling is neither grounded or warranted. Of course the other British riders graduating to WSB have fans of their own, but let's try to unite behind them all and not become partisan in the way the Rossi fan club constantly malign and boo Stoner. I think Moody also worthy of defence in the light of an attack on this page. So what if he was educated well and shortens names the way cricketers do? It's a sign of affection and respect. And if some didn't enjoy Eurosport's commentary, what was wrong with the BBC? Motorcycle racing is a sport for all, isn't it?

Leon hasnt dominated BSB? i sort of agree, but he's been consistantly 2nd and 3rd Would you say ****nal, Chelsea and Liverpool were crap just because they get 2nd 3rd and 4th every year? NO! you say "noone's ever gonna break the top 4"
To me it's the same with Bike racing, although in Bike racing, if you want to you CAN break the top 4.
Leon is a good rider, with a WSBK Honda under him, he should at least impress enough to get a factory ride at some point.
Good Luck Leon, we'll miss you in BSB, but greater things are on the horizon! All the Best fella!
