He was tailed by Billy McConnell on the Virgin Media Yamaha who took him down last out at Mondello Park in Ireland. McConnell has had numerous good runs in qualifying but is still lacking consistency when it comes to race day, he is hoping to turn that around this weekend.
Sandwiching the Virgin rider was the second of the Relentless machines with Ian Lowry on board. Ian Hutchinson on the Bike Animal Honda was bumped down to fourth place in this session having lead the first free practice session.
The red flags came out with 16mins of the session left to run when Dennis Hobbs parted company with his Padgetts Honda. He was able to walk away from the crash unscathed.
Scotsman, Stuart Easton on the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki was in sixth place. Easton is also racing in the Superbike class replacing his team-mate Michael Rutter who is out with a wrist injury.
Jamie Robinson on the Margal/Bykerbabe Honda was running seventh ahead of Cup contender James Westmoreland on his Centurion Honda hwo had a small off during practice. John McGuinness, 13 times TT winner was in ninth and Craig Fitzpatrick took up tenth.
