Following a DNF in race one HM Plant Honda's Jonathan Rea dug deep to secure a win in the second stint at Cadwell Park while team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari scored a double-podium.
Race one saw Rea have a coming together with fellow Honda rider Leon Camier, both riders went down but Rea was able to restart. Unfortunately he pushed too hard to try and make up some places and unfortunately crashed. This elevated Kiyonari to third place as he had been running in fifth.
In race two Rea got the holeshot and Kiyonari slotted into second place with Tom Sykes and Leon Haslam chasing them. On lap nine a crash at the mountain top forced the safety car to be deployed. The re-start three laps later saw both riders get into a good rhythm which put some distance between them and the chasing pack.
Rea maintained the gap between him and his team-mate to take his fifth victory this season and Kiyonari managed to hold off Gregorio Lavilla in a nail-biting final lap to finish in second position.
The points haul secured by Rea and Kiyo was enough to grab the Manufacturers' title for Honda as they are 104 points clear of Ducati with only 100 points available in the remaining two rounds.
I am very happy with the results today. It is important for us to maintain our lead in the riders' championship and we have managed to extend that further, said Kiyonari, I would have liked to have won but this is not one of our strongest circuits. With four races left it is important to be consistent and I am looking forward to
Donington.
Rea was philosophical about the race one crash saying, In race one I got a good start although Leon Haslam had a really good pace when he came past. I was trying to stay with him when Leon Camier and I collided which resulted in us both crashing. It was just a racing incident and unfortunately I didn't get the win we had hoped for.
