The 29-year-old motorcycle mechanic has been racing in the British 125GP Championship since 2004 but first took to the track seven years ago.
The ride came about following Tinmouth having a pillion ride with former British Superbike Champion, John Reynolds. As it turned out Reynolds had been watching Tinmouth's progress over the years and was impressed with her riding style, so he offered to mentor her.
The opportunity to race cropped up when the team were deciding who to offer a ride to for the Race of the Year. Tinmouth was put forward and the rest as they say is history.
“I took part in a Rizla Suzuki track day recently at
Mallory Park. I rode Chris Walker's bike during the lunch break. It was great, I loved it," said the excited Tinmouth.
“Obviously it has a lot more power than my 125! It has good brakes, handles well and is more physical to ride, “she continued. Strength is important on a Superbike but as Reynolds has told her technique is also important, “John has told me that I need to let the bike do the work and it is more about technique to get the best from the bike. Although I still need to do some more training!” she joked.
Tinmouth is thrilled at the opportunity to be the first woman to race a factory Superbike, “I'm looking forward to it but I am a little bit nervous too, “she admitted.
The Race of the Year talks place at Mallory Park on the Sunday 21st October.
