The man who is running third in the championship, Leon Haslam on the Airwaves Ducati was in second just behind Kiyo during free practice. He is going to do his utmost to over haul Kiyo for the title and with the nature of the Brands Indy circuit anything could happen as back markers come in to play on the extremely short circuit.
Rizla Suzuki's Chris Walker worked his way gradually up the time sheets to finish in third place. The hard riding former World Superbike contender would love to finish his season off with a win.
HM Plant's Jonathan Rea resided in fourth place at the end of the session. The Ulsterman is in second place in the title chase and would love nothing more than to go to World Supersport next year as the British Champion.
Rain meister, Michael Rutter on the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki headed the session at the mid point and finished in fifth overall.
Young gun Tom Sykes on the Stobart Vent Axia Honda completed free practice in sixth place. The former Supersport front runner has been impressive in his rookie Superbike year achieving front rows, pole position and several well earned podiums. He would like to round out his season with a win.
The second Airwaves machine with Gregorio Lavilla on board was in seventh place. The Spaniard is fourth in the championship after a tough mid season, he too wants to finish on a high to say thanks to his hard working team.
James Haydon on the Hawk Colchester Kawasaki finished in eighth place. Haydon only returned to the action at Cadwell Park and has been impressive with consistent top tens.
Sykes' team-mate Shane Byrne was in ninth at the end of the session despite leading it early on. With Brands being his local track he will be out to impress. The final place in the top ten went to Kenny Gilbertson on the Astro/KS Kawasaki, the cup contender put in a good session to run consistently in the top ten.
