On his way to the race win he also set a record qualifying time of 1min 33.644secs, and a new record lap of 1min 33.124secs aboard his BQR team prepared Blusens-Aprilia.

In the race he lead from lights to flag with only Spanish rider Efren Vazquez, who usually rides a 250 in the MotoGP series, even coming close to producing a challenge.

Vazquez, sportingly told Redding after the race that he was on the limit all race but had no answer to his pace. "I felt in control the whole race and was certainly not going to let Efren through, I felt that I still had something in reserve" commented Redding.

The points haul from this win put Redding into third overall in the championship, but he is still 25 points behind. With just 50 points left it's a tall order for the youngster to win the title, but he will certainly not be phased by that.

Wins at the last two meetings at Valencia and Jerez in November could still gift him second place.
