MSS Discovery Kawasaki team boss Nick Morgan has added his voice to those welcoming Jonathan Palmer's Motorsport Vision as the new rights holder of the British Superbike Championship, claiming that the move could be of benefit to the lesser operations in the field.
MSV already has a key part to play in the BSB as owner of Cadwell Park,
Brands Hatch,
Oulton Park and
Snetterton, but has now strengthened its involvement after taking over from Dorna UK as commercial rights holder to the series in a ten-year deal - agreed with the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board - that will see it become responsible for the organisation and promotion of the series with immediate effect.
Although poised to run Stuart Easton and Billy McConnell in the Superbike class this season, MSS Discovery boss Morgan is well aware that his operation has some way to go to match the 'big boys' in the class, and is hoping that Palmer's involvement will help everyone up and down the grid.
"We're hoping that, with the benefit of Jonathan Palmer's vision, some of the smaller teams like us will reap the benefit in some way in the future," he commented, "Personally, I didn't know what Dorna did – either for the teams or anyone else - so let's hope that, at some point, we – the teams – get something from this. We put on the show for the fans - no teams means the fans won't want to watch, so we've all got to work together for the continued good of the series.
"I'm genuinely proud to be in the British Superbike Championship and, although I'm not here to become a millionaire, I think it's important that the teams are rewarded, appreciated and wanted for the effort we're putting in. With that in mind, I'm looking forward to a fruitful relationship with MSV and Jonathan Palmer.”
