Team Trimite Brookspeed will officially launch its 2008 British Superbike Championship programme next week, with an event at the Festival Place Shopping Centre in Basingstoke on Wednesday [16 April].

The team, which runs a Dodge Viper in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, will unveil the Ducati 1098R that will be ridden by Brendan Clarke in the Daily Star Cup and the 1098S that Leon Morris will ride in the National Superstock series.

The Viper, raced by Jon Barnes and James Gornall in the GT series, will also be present on the day with visitors to Festival Place being able to get up close to the racing machinery and two road-going versions of the 1098R.

All four riders and drivers will be present on the day, as will former World Superbike Endurance Champion and Brookspeed team technical consultant Terry Rymer.

“We have chosen to launch our 2008 British Superbike campaign at Basingstoke's Festival Place because of its central position to our local supporters,” team principal Martin Braybrook said. “Thruxton is our home track so a pre-season event at Festival Place also presents the perfect opportunity to meet some of the enthusiasts who will no doubt be travelling to see us in action at Thruxton, whether racing bikes or cars.

“When we visited Thruxton last year with the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, we enjoyed brilliant sunshine and immense local support, so we are hoping for more of the same. I hope everyone will enjoy getting up close to the car and bikes while chatting to the drivers and riders.”

The team will also use the event to run a series of prize draws, which will give people attending the launch to also visit what will become the opening rounds of the 2008 campaign after heavy snow at Brands Hatch forced the scheduled first round to be postponed.
