The HRC backed team that ran Leon Camier last year with great success are continuing to learn about the new 2008 Honda Fireblade.
Rain showers and gusting winds at the very fast
Thruxton circuit have not made it easy for bike or rider.
Former World Superstock champion and
MotoGP rider Ellison in particular has not yet been able to find a comfortable setting on the new bike.
The Kendal rider showed improvement in the drying conditions on Saturday though to set a time good enough for the fourth row of the grid.
"It's turning into a difficult weekend again," he said. "I'm trying to find a good setting and still not comfortable on the bike just yet.
"It's a fast pace out there and I'm hoping for a dry race tomorrow as we've still got a lot of work to do with the settings, but we're getting there."
Martin, a very successful road coarse rider, lost a lot of time on Friday with a misfire on the bike. He is riding the whole championship in 2008 but he will also ride in the big road events in Ireland and on the Isle of Man.
"The front end of the bike is giving me problems at the moment, its hurting my confidence especially in the wet," revealed Martin.
"The team are trying tp sort a better fork setting but it would be silly to do anything too drastic. It was tough to miss a session on Friday with a misfire, but I am confident of a decent race.
Team boss Shaun Muir, himself a former racer in the early nineties revealed that the team are experimenting with electronics and also trying to help the riders sort out the front end handling problems they are both suffering.
"We are trying to run a new PI electronic system," said Muir. "It's proving tough to develop so for here we have gone back to an HRC kit system on the bikes. I am hopeful James can get into the top eight.
"As for Guy, he is suffering like James with the front end feeling, and we need to get that sorted in readiness for the road events."
