"The first race was looking good and I think we should have won that one," he told Crash.net. "Shakey just managed to hold me off. I made a move for the lead so it's a little bit disappointing not to have won. I struggled early on in the really wet conditions but the track got drier and I could feel the bike a lot more. I managed to catch everyone up which I was happy with, but I should have gone straight at him [Byrne].

"I sat there and waited for a little while and then on the final lap I made a small mistake which prevented me from making that overtaking move. But I'll live and learn from it and we got a second place from the race."

"In the second race we had an incident with another rider and I've been disqualified, that's all I want to say about that race to be honest," Haslam then added in the team's end of day release once his disqualification has been confirmed. "All we can do now is look forward to Brands Hatch where at least it's less than a week before I can get out there and get some better results."
