Leon Camier is focused on further podium glory at Brands Hatch in the rescheduled rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship after a double top-three finish at
Oulton Park.
The Airwaves Ducati man secured a brace of third place finishes in Cheshire during the Bank Holiday Monday meeting to move up to second place in the championship standings behind team-mate Shane Byrne, who made it three wins in four starts to establish a solid early season lead.
Now he will head into the Brands Hatch weekend aware that he already has a place on the second row of the grid with qualifying having taken place before the weather caused race day to be abandoned.
With that in mind, the youngster will be able to work on the set-up of his bike during practice to focus solely on the races and he said he was hopeful of carrying his form over into the rescheduled event.
"It's mega to be second in the standings, as I'm not at the pace I want to be at yet," he told
Crash.net. "It's good to still be second and hopefully, if I can find the pace that I want, then I will be challenging.
"I guess it helps fractionally when you know where you are on the grid ahead of the weekend, as you just need to go in there and try to get back up to speed as soon as possible. Having only just ridden at
Brands Hatch, we should be able to go out and do the lap times straightaway and look at improving where we were already. We are sixth on the grid so if I can get a good start, I should be looking to be on the podium again.
"I'm pretty confident and I do like the Brands Hatch circuit. The Airwaves Ducati is mega round there so if I can get a good start and get amongst it, then I'm confident I'll be right up there."
