In other words, focus on the now instead of lamenting what was. So from their first test sessions with their new Pirelli-shod Ducati 1098R FO8 machines, GSE focussed on achieving lap times as good on the final lap as in the early laps of a race.
"Shane and Leon have now proved that their last-lap times are within 0.2 or 0.3 seconds of their fastest laps," Wright said.
Many fans and people in the BSB paddock already believe that Byrne, with a 39-point lead over Camier after just four races, has already stitched up the title. But Wright and GSE team owner Darrell Healey keep stressing: "We won the first four races last year and the last four, but we still lost the championship to Honda."
"We have to make sure that that doesn't happen again," Wright says. "Going through that scenario once is acceptable, but a second time would be totally unacceptable. If the same thing happens again I will hold myself responsible."
And with that it's time to swing a leg off the scooter and head for the pitbox to monitor the morning warm-up.
