Tom Sykes was pleased to record another British Superbike podium finish this season as he battled to third place in the first race of the weekend at
Snetterton.
Sykes had been eyeing a first BSB win at Snetterton after showing particularly well in free practice, but while he had the pace of the eventual winner Leon Camier in the first race, he was unable to get the better the two Airwaves Ducatis.
Nonetheless, Sykes was satisfied to settle for third after a tough race that saw him competing in the middle of a close group of five.
“It's great to get another podium and I think we really worked hard to achieve it in the opening race,” he said. “I had to dig deep right at the end and the sheer speed of my Suzuki really helped, it was a missile down the straights.”
However, the Rizla rider did not enjoy the wet and rainy conditions that greeted him in the second race, the honed set-up of his Suzuki not working in the slippery conditions as he came home an eventual seventh.
“For the second race we made a few changes to help through the corners and if it had been dry we were in good shape; but then the rain fell. I did the best I could getting home in seventh and it's onwards and upwards from here, roll on
Mallory Park.”
