Karl Harris admits he is ‘gutted' by the error that saw him crash out of second place in the rain-hit Bennetts British Superbike round at
Snetterton.
In a season blighted by a myriad of different issues, an almost fully-fit Harris was looking for a strong performance around the Norfolk circuit and he was looking good in the wet second race after making a great start to run second.
However, his day came to a rather dramatic end when he high-sided off his Rob Mac Racing Yamaha coming out of the Esses on the first lap and landed directly in front of a stunned Shane Byrne, who had to come to a stop to avoid him.
Coming after finishing a disappointing eighth in the first race, Harris was annoyed with his ‘schoolboy error' whilst running in a good position.
“I'm gutted to be honest,” he said. “I missed out on a better finish in Race 1 and we knew the reasons why. The rain ahead of Race 2 changed our plans but everyone is in the same position.
“I got a blinding start and was running in second when the bike just let go mid corner and I was down on the floor. It was a bit of a schoolboy error if I'm honest, the tyre was cold and I paid the price.”
