Karl Harris is confident he has something to build upon after qualifying on the second row of the grid for the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at
Mallory Park.
A rollercoaster of a session for the Rob Mac Racing rider, Harris ran on the cusp of the top ten for most of the 50-minutes before putting in a few strong laps in the latter stages to emerge an eventual seventh.
A positive end to the day for the Yamaha rider, Harris is feeling equally optimistic about his chances in the races after showing decent pace during race day simulations.
"I'm pleased with that, a second row is acceptable,” he said. “I was struggling a bit in the first half of the session then something clicked and I made up the chunk of time I needed to drag me up to the front guys. We've got a good race pace and I'm looking forward to tomorrow."
Team principal Rob McElnea is also hoping Harris can get a good result under his belt in order to set him up for the remainder of the season.
"We had to be on the front two rows here to give ourselves a chance. Now we need to convert that into a solid race result, Karl needs a good confidence booster to set him up for the remainder of the season. It's going to be a bit of a war out there as it always is here, if Karl gets into a good rhythm we can bank on some good results."
